Thousands of angry Americans are calling for Barron Trump to serve in the U.S. military. However, the 19-year-old reportedly qualifies for a medical exemption that would prevent him from being drafted.

Over the weekend, on February 28, the United States and Israel launched coordinated airstrikes inside Iran, reportedly targeting the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Former President Donald Trump later stated on Truth Social that the operation had been successful, claiming Khamenei had been k*lled. Following the announcement, Iran declared forty days of mourning and announced a seven-day national holiday.

Why the strikes happened

For years, both the U.S. and Israel have argued that Iran’s nuclear program and missile development pose a major security threat—particularly to Israel, U.S. military forces in the region, and Western allies.

Officials have long wa:rned that if Iran develops advanced nuclear weapons or long-range missiles, the balance of power in the region could shift dangerously.

At the same time, critics point out that the situation is complex. While many Western governments accuse Iran’s leadership of authoritarian rule and hostility toward Western policies, many Iranians themselves have pushed for reforms and greater freedoms.

Human rights organizations and the United Nations have repeatedly criticized Iran’s government for suppressing protests, restricting free speech, carrying out arbitrary arrests, and punishing political opponents.

Israel has argued that weakening Iran’s leadership could reduce its influence across the Middle East. However, critics say the strikes could also risk triggering a broader regional conflict.

Fears of a wider wa:r

Concerns about the possibility of a third world wa:r have risen significantly.

A YouGov survey found that between 41% and 55% of Western Europeans believe another global war could occur within the next decade. About 45% of Americans share that fear. Meanwhile, 68% to 76% of respondents believe any future world war would likely involve nuclear weapons.

If a military draft were introduced in the United States, certain groups would receive exemptions or deferments.

Women are currently not required to register with the Selective Service System, although they serve in nearly all military roles.
